We’re filling up the tank and breaking out the map; the Emil Lloyd “Buzzie” Reutimann Super DIRT Week championship trophy is hitting the road for a grand tour around the region.
Motorsports fans in New York and Canada will get the chance to see the prestigious trophy up close at various races and events throughout the year, leading up to Super DIRT Week 54 at Oswego Speedway, Oct. 5-10.
The trophy, named in honor of Emil Lloyd “Buzzie” Reutimann, who won the first two Super DIRT Week titles, features a casting of “Buzzie’s” famed No. 00 Modified on top and the names of every Super DIRT Week Big Block Modified champion along the sides.
It made its debut at Super DIRT Week last year, stealing the headlines with Mat Williamson being the first champion to hoist the trophy. Now, fans will get to experience the iconic piece of history up close, starting with the 20th Nostalgia Night at Orange County Fair Speedway on Sunday, June 7.
Along with the trophy, the event will feature multiple Super DIRT Week champions, such as Brett Hearn, Gary Balough, and Frank Cozze. Balough will have his famous No. 112 “Batmobile” Modified on display, and the three champions will be signing autographs with several other Big Block stars. Three-time Super DIRT Week Big Block champion Matt Sheppard will also be at the event, competing in the night’s main Feature.
The trophy will be on tour from June to October with multiple stops planned and more to come along the way.
